Animations

  1. Animation Pane (open pane, Hide Advanced Timeline)
  2. Animate Text (add animations, expand lists)
  3. Animate Pictures (add animations, set to come in automatically, change order to come in with the matching bullet)

Animation Pane

First open the ANIMATIONS tab.

Animation Pane

Now click on the toolbar to show the Animation Pane...

You should now see a pane open on the right...

Hide Advanced Timeline

Go to Slide #2 (Birthday) where we've already done some animation. Click on any of the animations in the Animation Pane and right-click or use the drop-down menu on the right and set it to Hide Advanced Timeline...

Now the animations have a mouse icon beside them...

Animate Text

For slide #3 (and other list slides), click in the text box with a list so your cursor is blinking (no text selected)...

...and add any green animation (except 'Appear')...

When you've done this, you should have different numbers to the left of each list...

And it will look like this in the Animation Pane. Click on the grey bar to expand the list...

If you selected the text (instead of clicking so your cursor is blinking), then you will get the same number beside each bullet which is not correct...

For slide #4 (and other comparison slides), click in each list box and add any green animation. When you've done this, you'll have different numbers beside each bullet...

Click on the grey bars to expand the lists in the Animation Pane...

Repeat for each list slide

For each list text box on all your slides:

  1. Click in the list text box
  2. Add a green animation
  3. Expand the list in the Animation Pane

Animate Pictures

For each picture you will do the same process...

  1. Add animation (to all the pictures), and make sure they are all "With Previous" (no mouse icon)
  2. Change order (so after matching bullet)

1) Add animation

 Start with Slide #3.

  • Select all the pictures on the slide:
    1. Select/click on one picture
    2. Hold SHIFT
    3. Select/click on the other pictures
  • Add a green/entrance animation

Then you should see a the same number beside each picture...

With all the animations still active/selected, go to the Animations toolbar and change Start to "With Previous".

So none of the Picture animations now have a mouse icon in front...

If you forget and they're not all selected still, you can click on the Picture animation with the mouse and right-click or use the drop-down menu on the right to change Start to "With Previous"...

Repeat for each list slide - animate all the pictures and make sure no mouse icon in front of any of the Picture animations.

Picture order

Click on a picture on your slide (this will highlight it in the Animation Pane so you know which one it is).

Then click and drag it up under the matching bullet... and let go.

Click on the picture for the second bullet. It'll light up in the Animation Pane. Click and drag it up under the 2nd bullet and let go...

The picture for the last bullet stays after the grey bar.

If each bullet and picture have the same numbers, then you've done it correctly...

For your comparison slides, do the same thing. Your last picture may be before or after the grey bar, depending on which bullet it goes with...

Make sure the picture number is the same as the matching bullet!

Repeat for your other slides:

  • Each bullet and picture should end up with the same animation #
  • The picture animation for the last picture will be after the gray bar.
